This song was written and composed by two Union lieutenants while they were imprisoned in Columbia, SC during the civil war Original copyright was 1865 . The back page is an ad for other songs and has an 1889 copyright, indicating that this was actually published in 1889 or later. Additional publishers are listed on the bottom of the front cover.

Says that the same was attempted in Georgetown, but "fortunately the ballot had a picture of Lincoln on it next to the union ticket..." Suggest the same tactic may work for Brownlow.
