Title: Americans Over the Top

Abstract: This is a small poster that is the cover of History of Americans Over the Top, Victory Edition. The illustration shows American soldiers going "over the top" of a trench during a battle and capturing German soldiers. Airplanes fly overhead. The poster was printed by Columbian Eng. Co. in Chicago. An advertisment on the back of the poster describes a volume that will be an "authentic narrative" of World War I, including real military maps and other illustrations. Orders are to be sent to the Southern Agriculturist, Nashville, Tennessee.

Title: Dromgoole Literary Society

Abstract: Dromgoole Literary Society was the sister organization of the Claxton Literary Society. According to the 1917 Signal, on April 27, Miss Will Allen Dromgoole, local author and the group's namesake, was the honoree at an outing on the Middle Tennessee State Normal School Farm. "The time was spent pleasantly in playing games, in singing, and in story-telling. Just before returning to the dormitory a delightful picnic supper was served." Later the Claxtons and Dromgooles gave a combined program, Miss Dromgoole spoke on "Service," and the group enjoyed a social hour.

Abstract: "The Dromgooles and Claxtons gave their usual joint program at the first meeting of the Fall Term. Addresses of welcome were delivered by the presidents of both Societies. The program consisted of readings, dialogues, musical numbers, and contests followed by refreshments and social hour. A large crowd was present and all sitting and standing room was taken" (The Normalite, October 1922).

This house is to be occupied by a different group of girls each quarter. Abstract: This is a photograph of Aaron Weise in his World War I military uniform. He served as an aviator from October 1917 to February 1919. On February 26, 1924, Weise was promoted in the reserves to the grade of captain and assigned to Flight B, 306 Observation Squadron of the Eighty-First Division, whose headquarters were in Knoxville, Tennessee.
