Abstract: This photograph depicts Italian immigrant Concetta DiGiorgio Meshotto (Miciotto). She emigrated to New York in 1911 with her husband and children. The family lived in Chicago and Nashville before settling in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in 1916. Concetta opened the Busy Bee Cafe on the town square with her son Dominick and his wife Rose in 1926. Dominick and Rose Meshotto began running the cafe on their own in 1937 until they sold it in 1946.

Abstract: Two workers, Sonny Neill and Stella Moser, stand beside a milk delivery truch for J.B. Neill's dairy. They are dressed in all white and wearing hats. Neill wears a bow tie and Moser wears a necktie. The truck features a picture of cow and a picture of a woman holding a baby inside a milk jar. The slogans, "Safe Milk for Babies" and "Grade A+ Natural Milk" appear on the side of the truck, as does the three-digit city phone number and the five-digit alphanumeric farm phone number for the company.

Abstract: This is a photograph of a Little River Railroad lumber harvesting operation in progrss. Little River Railroad, a subsidiary of the Little River Lumber Company, which owned the land being havested, would lay a temporary railroad into an area to be forested. After removing all the trees worth logging, they would pull out and take the rail line up as they left, leaving very little behind.

Title: Sign and exterior ruins of the Eureka Cotton Mills

Abstract: 2 tifs. The first black and white photograph is of an end of a boiler, stamped with the inscription "Eureka Cotton Mills/ 1916/ Englewood Tenn/ Built by The Walsh and Weidner Boiler Co/ Chattanooga Tenn". The second image is of the side of the cotton mills building, with dilapidated windows on the arched brick facade. From the mid-19th century into the first half of the 20th century, Eureka Cotton Mills was a driving force in the economy of Englewood, Tennessee. Around 1915 the town of Englewood had a labor force of 300, and neighborhoods of mill houses were built in the area. The Great Depression forced the closure of Eureka Cotton Mills, but the remains of the factory are still on the site.

A brick building has been built around the structure to preserve the old tailor shop by the State of Tennessee. Title: Morristown power plant

Abstract: 1 tif. A framed photograph of the Power House, Industrial Home in Morristown Tennessee. The powerhouse was located off of a road with power lines, and is crudely fenced from the street. It features one tall exhaust tower over a long, short hip roofed structure. The words Power House, Industrial Home, Morristown, Tennessee are written on the photograph. Notations included with the photograph contain the following information: Morristown's second electric plant with Morristown College in the background (c.1910). Morristown Power Plant located off North Cumberland Street on Cherokee Drive. This 1900 Power Plant burned coal that was hauled by the Old Pea Vine Railroad. This was replaced in the 1920s by a Power House on the Holston River. TVA built Cherokee Dam in 1941 and this Power Plant replaced all the old Power Plants. Photo circa 1910.
