this is the 4 of June 1850 we ar [are] all well at this time my life is at stake and I wat [want] you to to send or fetch me two of the Best pistoles [pistols] that you can git [get] in nashvill Ross came in f the fall and thretend [threatened] to shut [shoot] be me twist [twice] or three times and drew a large hickry [hickory] stick on me and Swore that he would kill me we are dun planten [done planting] corn I believe that I shant [shouldn't] wright [write] any more at this time only that he drew his pistol or started to But he did not quite [unclear: cumet ] do not for git [forget] to Bring them if you pleas [please] Sir
