When you have examined the proposal made by my friend Mr. Letell, for establishing a Public Library, in Tennessee & in every other state in the Union, I can have no hesitation in believing that you will give it your most cordial support. The liberal spirit manifested by your legislature in granting funds to the Nashville University, inheres confidence that, with your recommendation & that our your friends, this important national object will be accomplished & that lasting benefits will result.
