Judge Lewis September 17th 1807 Cousin Peter ,
I have but little to say to you present times dull and if is very sickly perhaps thesickelyest [sickliest] season the inhabitants have experienced for some years we have had our own experience of the season hear it has been not uncommon for seven & eight at a time down with the fever god knows I had it seventeen days pretty high but by the aid of three physicians I have had the good fortune to save my life so far but am not yet well, telo [tell] cousin John Hardeman that I have recd [received] 7 dollars form [from] Benj [Benjamin]. Stephens for him and recd [received] to him for that amt [amount]. stephens says that he thinks that the whole he owes I expect I shall set out with Mrs. Perkins for Tennessee on or about the first of november I shall set out for [unclear: Tornbechee ] in a few days and as soon as I return I set out if I can get money enough I shall

endeavour to go northwardly on some speculation or other either buying negroes or merchandise tho [though] I rather expect the former I would be very glad we could go to gether [together]__ but stop I have not the money yet__ I will say more when I get it__ my best wishes to uncle Hardeman tell him I have [unclear: that child ] his grand Daughter a thing unexpected no doubt__ Mr Bennit wishes you to find out whether his wife is in the state or not and if convenient get the Testimony of some person to that effect__ I think they never will live to gether [together] again if so they had better both have a divorce he says he never will be done serving you if you do it but you can Judge of the matter best Mrs. Perkins joins me in love to you I m Dr Sir [I am Dear Sir] yours with every attention P.
