Knoxville June 30th 1812
Dear Sir:

The United States on the 18th Instant passed a declaration of war against Britain to day recd. [received] a copy of it as passed transmitted by the Secy [Secretary] of State and expect to receive by next mail order from The Secy [Secretary] War respecting the detachment from the militia some time since orders to be held in readiness — I hope your Division on the detachment from it is ready — in haste
