Philadelphia
Nov [November] 22d 1827Dear Sir

When you have examined the proposal, made by my friend Mr [Mister] Letrell, for establishing a Public library, in Tennessee & in every other state in the union, I can have no hesitation in believing that you will give it your most cordial support__ The liberal spirit manifested by your legislature in granting funds to the Nashville University , inspires confidence that, with your recommendation & that [our] your funds, this important national object will be accomplished & that lasting benefits will result.
