We have at Length arrived at our journeys end with weary times, but cherful [cheerful] spirits — Thus circumstanced, little capacitated is the mind, the compose the most comon [common] letter, i.e. [such as] one to be understood.

We occupied four days in coming. The heat was very oppressive both to horse and rider; though we traveled very slowly Jesse's pony took the thumps the second day, and consequently we could not hurry if we desired, and Bills horse was on the very verge of taking them during [added: every] day, but my horse, you know, is composed of different metal, he appeared to be as fresh when I got off of him this evening as he was when we left home.

We called to see the widow Garet she was highly delighted and expressed a great desire to see you and ma. she remarked several times that she "would be as glad to see you as her own p [added: a]rents" The old lady was in very feeble health, labouring [laboring] under

severe afflictions what they call "sematic pains" she told me to tell you if she "had fifty tongues she could not tell her sufferings" our visit enlivened her spirits very much, Moris appeared to be as active as a boy and said "he wanted another yong [young] wife" but Bill can tell you more about these things than I can write.

I perceive that Bill will get back there about saturday night, and I have taken the liberty to give him permission to remain there sunday, knowing it will be advantageous to the horses, and a pleasure to him, and probably diminish our catalogue of transgressions by one, for if we do not regard the Lord's day when it is convenient, what will be our portion?

The students are coming in rapidly. The college opperations [operations] will begin to go on smoothly next week I guess

I shall expect a letter from home before I write aggain [again]
