Marshall County Miss [Mississippi] March 5th [added: 1838]
Dear Son

We are all in Common health at presant [present] and hope this will find you well also times are flourishing in this Country the land office is Closed at presant but will be oppend [opened] again shortly, there is a good [unclear: ade ] of vacant land yet, and Mr Greer says if you will send him the Silver he will enter one or more quarter Sections of [unclear: Land ] [gap] at 50 cents [added: per acre] that [gap] be sold for $2.50 or $3.00 which would [unclear: be a ] large profitable investment these hard times [unclear: your ] relations are all in Common health [gap] you must Come down this Spring and [gap] us. nothing more at presant
