Summary:This is a letter from John J. Potts to Governor Newton Cannon, dated March 4, 1837. Potts may be the treasurer for a company. Potts is writing to thank Cannon for his interest in the company. He also writes that the Board is interested in the internal improvements proposed for Tennessee.

Lagrange Tenn [Tennessee] March 4th 1837.
His Excellency Newton Cannon
Dear Sir

your favours [favors] of Feby [February]16th & 20th have been received and laid before the Board of Directors And I am instructed to say they are highly gratified at the early and strong interest you have expressed in the success of the work they are engaged in_ Your suggestion on the subject of the state Bonds has been acted upon & the Board have determined to let them remain until they are actually wanted before they are called for__ Should any deficiencies in our Charter require to be supplied or any other amendment required the company will gladly avail themselves of your kind offer and advise you of the contemplated amendments__

Our people here are greatly interested on the subject of Internal improvements and would I [unclear: believe ] sustain any measure tending to its advancement by Legislative enactments, or on an appropriation of the surplus revenue allotted to this state, for that purpose__
