Summary:(Copy ?) of a letter dated November 18, 1857 from John Ross, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, to Colonel George Butler calling on Butler to remove intruders from the "Neutral Land" per an act of the National Council. A copy of the act, originally enclosed, is no longer attached. A note on the back indicates that this letter is a copy, but Ross's signature appears to be in his own hand.

Nov. 18th. 1857 Colo. [Colonel] George Butler U.S. Agent

In compliance with the requirements of the enclosed Copy of an Act of the National Council; It has [added: you will perceive that it has] become my duty again, "to call upon you, as, the Agent of the United States , for the immediate removal of the intruders upon the Neutral Lands"
