| Summary: | The following document is a military order of July 8, 1812, issued by James Winchester in Nashville and addressed to Captain John Ballinger in New Orleans. Winchester served as Brigadier General during the War of 1812. In this general order, Winchester commands all soldiers to resume their posts and be prepared for battle. The United States had declared war on Great Britain on June 12. |
