Summary:This document is a letter to John C. Calhoun, former Secretary of War , from Gideon Morgan, dated August 16, 1820. In the letter, Morgan states that the land he purchased from the Cherokee agency was divided and sold to others while he was away in Knoxville conducting business. He states that the Cherokee Nation is indebted to him for $815.00, the money he paid for the land.
