| Summary: | This document is a letter written to the Warriors and Chiefs of the Cherokee Nation by Governor John Sevier (1796-1801, 1803-1809) on June 24, 1799. In the letter, Sevier tells the Cherokees that Reverend Lyman Potter has offered his services to teach education, religion, and the fine arts to their people. Sevier praises Potter and gives his recommendation to the Cherokee of Potter's qualifications. |
